Peppol ID builder and checker

To send an e-invoice over Peppol you need the buyer's Peppol ID: a 4-digit scheme code, a colon and a number, such as 0208:0123456749. Build one from a company or VAT number, or check one you were given.

🔒 Nothing is looked up or sent anywhere. Your browser only checks the format and check digits.

How to find a buyer's Peppol ID

  1. Ask the buyer. The buyer is expected to give you their Peppol ID, and you should use what they give you. Save it with their customer details: it rarely changes.
  2. Look at a document they sent you. In an e-invoice or order from them, their ID is the electronic address: EndpointID in UBL or URIID in CII, with the scheme code in schemeID.
  3. Check the public Peppol Directory yourself, by name or by company or VAT number. If you can't find them there and they haven't told you, contact them.
  4. In Belgium you can usually send to the enterprise number (0208) without asking (see the note that appears when you pick Belgium).
  5. Let your access point do the routing. When you send, your Peppol provider looks up the ID on the network and finds the buyer's provider. A correct ID that isn't registered on the network still can't receive.

Have the Peppol IDs but still get PDF and paper invoices? Vihsm is building a converter that turns supplier PDFs and scans into clean EN 16931 data your access point or platform can send. Belgium has required B2B e-invoices since January 2026, and France and Germany follow in 2027–28.
